Hi Everyone,

Things have gotten settled down on FB and I understand so much more how to post pictures and so forth.

This week, I have not been on it as much as I was the first week, something fun is that now my Mom is using her account, she already has 45 friends, she had gotten invites to friend people a few years ago, and like me she did not head the face book calling, so how she sees the benefits of being able to keep in touch with family members.

she has instilled the cleaning bug in me, I have started with the living room and am going clockwise, today was our office, that was after I did Pilates this morning too!

Worship Wednesday...The things the Lord lets us know

Hi everyone,
Well I took the car to the shop on Monday, and guess what???

They cannot find anything wrong with it, so I guess we have a reprieve with the Accord (or big H as we call it and the civic is the Little H)

I would say that is wonderful because it gives us time to save some $ and to sell the Big H, we are still thinking of another car its just not as urgent, and as I said now we can plan more for it, so thank thr Lord for this.

Off White Country Loom yarn throw/lap or big baby blanket

I listed a blanket today (its in the pic above) it was a while since that had happened, I was working on a custom order so that order is 1/2 done but its not due till May or June time frame.

Oh I had a Kirby vacuum demo today, and I was so tempted to buy one after I saw how much my Orek cannot do :(

Jack used to work at Kirby he was a trainer, so I can say first hand that they are the best vacuum, but it came down to the Kirby or a car and well the car won out!!!!
I have to realize that the Lord lets you make choices like my pastor said Sunday, its a matter of us figuring out what the best choice is for the circumstances.

Motormouth Monday...Interesting happenings with cars

So lets see the latest here is that we have some things happening with regards to our cars and what to do...let me back up a little and give some background:

Both our cars are 21 years old (1991) one is a Honda Civic and the other is a Honda Accord, well as you might have figured out there getting up there in miles, the Accord, did something on Saturday when I was on my way home it was almost like it did not have any power to get up the series of hills I have to drive to get home, was it the clutch, the transmission?...well that has to be determined by the mechanics checking it.

But the fact that the mechanics had already told us about a year ago that the transmission may last about 1-2 years in the Accord we have been knowing that some day we are going to have to make a decision as to what to do, since the repairs would be thousands of dollars, and due to the age of the car, we may be at that point of needing to get rid of that car.

Then there is the Civic and the a/c went out in that last week (with my menopause I need a/c) it might just be the switch for the fan, so if we fix that then selling that car while its still running may be the best thing, it also has a issue of burning oil, so as you can see we need to do something. (Note: Jack looked at the a/c and its not the switch is the blower bushings, so that will have to be 2nd in line for repairs)

I had an idea today of just buying one car and Jack and I can share it, the $ we would save from not having to gas, insure, register, and repair 2 cars just may make a car payment.
That is an option we have on the table right now. We are also back on the idea of getting a pass for Jack to take the sprinter/coaster train to work and we would buy a monthly pass.

Ok onto my shop news, I made a sale to Australia, 2nd time, and this time I think I charged enough for the shipping.


Its off to Australia for this one!!!!

facebook Friday...the connections

Hi everyone,
So this is my first facebook Friday, and wow what a week I have had, it seems to me that this one will be hard to top as far as the people I have connected with.

So I was able to see these pics, on Wednesday afternoon:

This little guy looks just like my nephew Chad (his daddy)

Wow that was so incredible, for those of you that remember the story, this baby is the son of the nephew and niece, whose wedding I went to


Chad and Holly's Wedding in Colorado

in September, with my Mom, Sister in Colorado, (my first visit there) we attended the rehearsal dinner and the wedding the next day, it was a whirlwind trip and we were so glad that we were able to go since my brother (Chad's Father and my sis in law did not attend) We represented the only family on Chad's side and for that reason it was so important to this young couple that we were there.

The birth of this baby was very touching and exciting to us here in San Diego.

There were numerous, people I got to talk to from my church, and I was able to really feel connected with what was going on with many of them, even if its just a picture they share, its been so great.

Friends

The best one was the friend that I had lost touch with for over 17 years, her and I were so close and shared a lot of experiences together with our three children each, so tomorrow afternoon I will be calling her and we will catch up with what has been going on for the past almost 2 decades.
I am so excited about that one.

Well here it is, I resisted facebook, thinking it was something bad, when in reality, it has been a very positive enriching experience...so there you have it my first week and it was great.

Hi Everyone, well there are some changes here in blog land, first of all I am not hosting the Friday

Twitter tree any more as of this past Friday, I asked Jacki if she could get someone to take my place, I am venturing off in different areas and do not have the time to tweet, not only that but for me I never saw a correlation of tweeting and increased sales.
The one thing that is constant is change, here is a scripture that I have been reading with regards to changes:

So my Friday post will be going back to what I had started with before I did the Twitter Tree, only now I am thinking of changing the name to "face book Friday", I can feature anyone or anything with my face book page, I actually have 2 face book places to go to, one is my Joyce Ramsey and that is my main one, and then there is the page off that one called Sweetybird09.etsy.com. and that one is my etsy knitting face book page.

The great thing about this was that its my official 80th sale on etsy I have sold more then that with the ones that I just have taken out of the shop and sold in person to people. But where the etsy numbers are concerned its 80...so woo hoo!!!!!!

I am almost coming up on my etsy 2 year anniversary, so what about if I have a sale or a coupon code of some kind, that would be good huh? Oh yeah and its my birthday month also :)

Hi everyone, wow ok so I never thought I would say this, but I am on facebook...the great thing is that I have been able to catch up with some people I have not talked to in years.

I now understand why people like it so much, when I joined on Thursday, there were already like 30 something people in my friends list, and so it did not take long to start getting the hang of it at all.

Now what is happening with my shop, well not much, Im working on a special order made with this color yarn:

and when its done then my mom will crochet the edging, this lady wanted it all knit knit and that does not lend itself to a border like most of my blankets have.
The 2nd blanket I am making her is out of the same wool yarn but in this color:

and since she does not want these for a few months, I can hold off on starting that one.

I have another special order and that will be to make a afghan in cashmere yarn, she is a repeat customer and will be sending the yarn for me to make the afghan.

Well things are going so good, that I want to give thanks to the Lord for giving me such a nice life, I really have so much to be thankful for, the following are scriptures that all refer to "Thanks"

1Chronicles 16:34 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.

Psalm 119:62 At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, Because of Your righteous judgments.

1Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

2Corinthians 8:16 But thanks be to God who puts the same earnest care for you into the heart of Titus.

2Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

3. A great family, a daughter,sister and mother that I can talk with

4. The ability to knit and make creations

5. Two adorable healthy cats ( I love my Rett and Whisper)

6. Stamina to be able to exercise more then I have in years

7. All kinds of friends, church, LA fitness, blog, etsy

8. Terrific in laws that I really like :)

9. A voice to sing praises to the Lord

10. A wonderful place to live that is OURS

My Prayer:
Thank you Lord for so many things that you do for us, we never can say or do enough to show how grateful we are, I love you Lord.

Motormouth Monday...Old Friends

Hi Everyone,
Well this weekend was an interesting one, I went on Saturday to a memorial service for a man (Mr Dugas) he lived in the neighborhood where my parents currently live and I knew him all my life, he died in his sleep on January 14th, he was in great health exercised all the time and was very active, so this came as a shock to all his wife and family.

So this past Saturday the 21st I attended the memorial with my Mom and sister Debbie, there was a lot of catching up to do with the children of Mr. Dugas, wow some had gotten slimmer and some bigger, that was weird, then there was the girl I went played with as a child and she and I had a good time talking.

After I went to my parents house and I had a great time visiting with my father who is in the mid to range of his Alzheimer disease, he talked about how he has gaps in his memory and he does not understand it, this was a break through as he has not admitted his short comings with his memory issues, he has been calling it Senility, the work Alzheimer's has not really been said to him (he would not remember it anyway) but I said to him that I will help him fill in the blanks.

I can see that spending time with him is very important, he does not get out much and has stopped his exercise of playing tennis, he is not as steady on his feet so that was bound to happen, well and he was also arguing in the court.

I did sell this organic cotton blanket, only not through my etsy site, since the lady paid by a check and did not go through etsy to buy it, so there is no record, etsy says 79, I do have more then 80 because I have sold more then 1 off the site with out being on record.

Well I am going to be going to Pilates, today, I have been doing it 2 times a week, along with 2 days a week at the pool!

Worship Wednesday...Blessings

Hi everyone,
Well I am really blessed, and here is why, I have a customer that has bought 3 things from me and so she comes back to me and wants me to make her two wool throws, that is great, then there is a customer I was working with my first year of business and she has contacted me for some more custom knitting, so again this is great, here is the yarn I will be using:

This is the yarn I will use

I will be using a slate color, perhaps with another strand or just by itself. This will be very pretty, expensive just for the yarn.

I have been staying home the past few days, I have so much knitting to get done, and I am still waiting for someone to get back to me with regards to a test swatch I sent her if the color is correct then Im onto another custom blanket.

I finished the blue alpaca so now I have the pink and the blue:

The Lord is good and I am pleased with his abundance, we are faithful to him and him to us.

Motormouth Monday...this and that!

Hi everyone, this first part in blue writing was done on my iPhone at my brother and sister in laws house. We had dinner there and were were all playing rock band on the Nintendo wii.I got a 99% on a few of the songs I sang, I do not like the guitar though, and Jack he does great on the drums, I took a video of them and sometime I may put it on here!

Saturday night I went went to help at at the ministry I told you about that I chose called "full Circle" I helped with food and then I did childcare, we had 10 little ones, it was rewarding but tiring.

Oh ok so now I am at home and typing on my computer so it will be easier to type then on the phone.

Here is the latest listing I have made:

Pink Alpaca

Im working on a light blue alpaca blanket and it should be done soon, I will start my cotton blue and pink next.

Oh in addition to all those blankets, I have an order for 2 wool throws from a customer I sold to twice before, so that will be nice, and another customer I had from before wants me to make a throw/afghan, with some yarn she has, so that is going to keep me quite busy!

Well its late and I need to get ready for bed, we just played with the cats so they will go to sleep, since we were gone for hours today, they do not do well if they do not get their play time, well its Whisper who does not do well Rett goes right to bed when we do and he sleeps all night, its Whisper who plays sometimes when we first go to bed then she meows and comes up on the bed and goes to sleep.

Worship Wednesday...making decisions

Hi well I had mentioned about the choice I had to go with Larry and Susan at their 12 step ministry now called "Full Circle" or to stay at the church and do that ministry which took the name "Celebrate Life"

So I have decided, or should I say the Lord did it for me, I am going with Full Circle, and will meet Susan sometime this week so we can talk about what I will be doing with them.

Jack on the other hand is going to go with "Celebrate Life" and since distance wise they are really close to each other, he will drop me off or vise versa.

So it all works out fine, my heart is really with those that have come through so much, and I have a lot to give them.

Im back working out on a regular basis, doing Pilates on M and Thursday, and then Wed and Fri I am doing the treadmill and pool, oh and I have still not had any candy that I gave up last week for that fast, I decided to keep it going, and I am almost on 10 days!

I have even turned down cupcakes, and that is my ultimate favorite!

Motormouth Monday...Choices

Hi everyone,Well this is kinda interesting, those of you that have been reading my blog for a while can remember me talking about mine and Jacks helping with the sound for it every Saturday night, well the program was 12 step Christian based, and was called "Celebrate Life" but in December the church and the ones who run the program (Larry and Susan) parted ways, and so Celebrate Life will remain at our church (Hope church) and Larry and Susan will start a new ministry for recovery called "Full Circle"...here is where the choices come in for Jack and I.

The ministry that Larry and Susan have started up "Full Circle" met for the first time this past Saturday, Jack and I went there to bring some food from my Fresh and Easy run from the other day, and to get a tour of the facility that they are renting, it was perfect, there is room for the adults and the kids, along with all the volunteers, so after that we went to eat and then to our church for the first prayer meeting for the new program called "Celebrate Life" so its confusing I know, because the church kept the name but the program not the same at all, its a service where those can come and worship the Lord and we will break into meetings.
Pastor Matt has asked Jack to facilitate one of these meetings, and for me to possibly sing and or facilitate along with Jack.

Now you can see why I named this post choices, because we have a choice of which Ministry to go with, at Full circle I am not sure what we would do because there is not going to be the need to set up for bands to play like we did in the past. They may need some small set up for guitars or something like that, but what to do is the question.

Celebrate Life at Hope church, that is where Jack feels the calling to be, but he wants to help Full Circle somewhat, so there is talk about maybe Jack going to the church and me staying with Larry and Susan, I am not really liking that idea, so prayer is where we are really at for this whole thing.

As I type this out I am feeling more and more that I want to stay with the Full Circle ministry.

Worship Wednesday...Fasting

It may indeed be profitable for a season for us to exercise severe discipline,

to be "temperate in all things" (I Corinthians 9 :25), but we must also realize
that "that which is flesh is flesh," and we cannot produce spiritual results –
however sincere our intentions – from that which is purely flesh.

Hi Everyone,
Well I am fasting and not a traditional one as I said the pastor said that he wanted us to fast so we could learn to lean on Jesus when we were craving food or other stuff, you can make the fast personal to your self.

Yum Yum!

I have not had any candy in 2 days and for me that is good, I was all about the chocolate, candy canes and what ever else was around, when I seem to be tired I reach for something sweet.

Jack is fasting from games, ALL games, even ones on my iphone, so how is he doing?, well he reads a lot!

I am back to my LA fitness, I will be going 4 times this week, to Pilates, the pool and the treadmill, along with going in the Jacuzzi.

Something interesting is happening in my etsy shop, I am seeing an interest in my wool blankets, so I need to get a move on and replenish some, oh and I have an order for 2 wool throws.

Whisper and Rett with their new scratching post

Hi everyone, Well its good to be back to blogging again, lets see what has been going on with us since I last posted.

We had a great Christmas, it was just Jack and I and we went to church and my parents drove up met us at church and then came over for a non traditional dinner of Meatball soup, we had hot fudge cake for dessert, I gave each of my parents throw blankets that I had made, this one was for my Dad:

The rest of the week Jack and I spend every day together, some days we went out and others we stayed in, what a refreshing time to be with him like this.

Another good report is that Whisper and Rett are doing really good, no more meds for either of them and I am now just feeding the wet food once a day to them.

I will have more to tell you about but franky we had company today as I write this and I am really tired, I will get back in the swing of things with blogging and commenting soon.

Advent candles "Hope.Peace,Joy and Love"

Hi everyone, well I sure hope that all of you readers have a joyous and wonderful Christmas, celebrating the birth of our Lord and savior...we will be having a really quiet time, and are going to be seeing my Mom and Dad on Christmas day, Christmas eve we will not be getting together with any of my small family and will probably sing at church for their service that night...

After This post I am taking from now through the first of January off from blogging, we all need a break some time, and it works out great because Jack is getting from December 23rd-January 2nd off work and we can have some down time that we so dearly need!

Hi everyone, well we had a great time Saturday night at the Moonlight amphitheater, the "Night of Christmas Hope"

The Holy spirit was there in full force, we got to the theater at 2 pm on Saturday afternoon, helped with this and that, and rehearsed and did a sound check, I did more then a few pics as I was too busy being in the show to take any and the rest of the time I was backstage with all the choir and we would eat, talk and laugh,while waiting our turn to go back onstage.
I heard the number people attending was around 1400.

Oh I had a blanket sale yesterday so that was exciting, its been weeks since I had a sale, its a red throw, I guess someone bought it just in time for Christmas...

Red multi throw! I will have to make this one again!!!!

Worship Wednesday...boy am I sore!

I am going to make this a short one, but I want to thank the Lord for giving me the opportunity to be at a new fitness club and not have to pay any more then I already paid for(Bally's) my club that was bought out.

This club LA fitness has so much more to offer, better equipment, cleaner locker rooms and showers, a smaller but, well kept pool, and a juccuzzi.
I worked with a personal trainer Monday as part of a free thing they are offering, I will work with him again today, gee that is if I can walk better then yesterday.

I was doing things I have not done in years, lunges, squats, sit ups...lol...it was like fitness boot camp.

Well just when you think that something is not going to be good because its different, it turns out to be even better...so I will report soon as to how its going...

Motormouth Monday...What a weekend

Ok so we need to have a rest from our super busy weekend!

We started off Saturday morning with rehearsal for the "Night of Christmas Hope" That practice lasted about 3 hours, and we went from there to drop off a paper to a place that Jack has been surveying on, and we got to see the model homes, so that was fun.

We came home for a few hours and then we were off to our Celebrate Life, only we did not know that it was going to be our last night there...I will explain that, see Celebrate Life is a recovery program, and its at our church has been going on for a little over 3 years, well the ones who run it Larry and Susan, have been asked to step down as the ones in charge, so that would have meant that they would have just been facilitators.
The long and short of it is that they are leaving the church facility and taking their ministry elsewhere, where that remains to be seen.

Jack started in the program, when it started then he was helping now and again with the sound, so I decided to start coming with him so we could be together Saturday nights and one thing led to another and it became something that we did every Saturday night, I would help set up the speakers, sound equipment, etc and would sit by Jack at the sound table, and I knit, seeing all those women, men and children was so great as we could see the Lords hand in helping those that were trying to better them selves and get clean and sober.

Well there is a lot to consider with all these changes, ok on to the rest of the weekend.

We wake up Sunday morning and were so tired we did not make it to church, then Jacks sister calls and reminds us that we have been invited to their house in San Diego for dinner for Dannys b day (beother in law) but then i tell Patty that we were invited to have lunch all of us ffrom Celebrate Life, so I will have to call her back, we talked about it and figurted we have to do both, so we went to the buffet (Jack had a cup of tea) since it was a chinese restaurant andthey have so much glutten in all their food, soy sauce has it in it.
After we visited and so forth we got Danny a card and gift and went to San Diego for a BBQ at Patty and Danny's, the food was good, steak, crab legs, potatoes, and green beans!

We got home about 9 pm just in time to feed and play with Rett and Whisper, and for me to write this blog!!!!!

Busy week ahead I have to finish my shopping and get things in the mail, along with making some drs apts, and of course our "Night of Christmas Hope" is Satuyrday with a dress rehearsal Friday!

Worship Wednesday...our babies are doing good!

Hi everyone,

Praise the Lord we went to the vet last night for a check up with Whisper and Rett, and everything is looking good for both of them, they are both at a better weight and so much more healthy then when we first got them. Whisper does not have her jaundice anymore.

We just have to put the ringworm medicine on them for 7-10 days and that is just as a precaution, but they are healing nicely the dr said.

Brandon lived to be 14 years and 4 months

Plus the nice thing was that we are seeing our vet we used to know years ago when we had Brandon our golden retriever (he was my special boy my Bran was)
I could never bring myself to get another dog after he died.

Well I digress, so its all good and I thank the Lord for all of this, now if we could just get Rett to get used to the heater noise when it comes on...lol...lol

One more thing, it seems that the square the credit card reader came in the mail today, gee its a good thing I did not need it when we were at the show, even if you can enter peoples cards manually :)

Me sitting behind my blankets!

Hi everyone,
Well I did not sell anything at the show but I did get future prospects, so that was good, it was an experience, Jack and I work great together and so that part of it was fun. We had a gluten free lunch and so it was like we had a picnic, we liked that.

We arraigned the blankets a few times

There were at lot of nice people to chat with and it was great to look at the old houses that we were near, they are 163 year old historic buildings that have been preserved, and you can tour them, it was fun, to see all the old appliances and tools and so forth.
It was cold, ok I know those of you in real cold parts of the US are going to yell at the computer when I say it was 59 for our high, but remember this is San Diego, where its always warm...lol...lol...we were in the shade and it was windy, and hour after hour in the metal chairs, I felt cold to the bone, I have been home for a few hours and I still feel cold.

My mom and sis in law came up and got to meet Rett and Whisper after the show, so that was good too...Im tired as I type this Jack is fixing some dinner for us.

I put my etsy shop back out of vacation mode, so Im good to go.

Oh I met the mayor of Vista and she said at her church they are having a blanket drive to get blankets for the needy children in Mexico, so I am going to sell her one of my blankets at a discount, and also there was a lady that wanted the light brown afghan that Jack made, and so between that and the cards I handed out, it was a good day.

Hi, this is just a fast post, I am getting ready for the craft show tomorrow, its my first ever, I never knew all the things you had to do to get ready, my card reader "square" never showed up in the mail, but with the app on my phone you can manually enter the persons credit card # so even though I would have wanted the reader, at least I can still take credit cards and will sell more knit items as a result.

Christmas, well I need to get a few decorations out, I was reading on how less is more, and to just change one thing like pillows, not try and do the whole room, so this week I will do the less is more.

Oh yeah one more thing I will be taking everything I have for sale in the shop to the show, so I will be putting my etsy shop on vacation mode to prevent any double selling (I am a wishful thinker)...will reopen the shop late Sunday or possibly Monday.

Worship Wednesday...Wow God is good!

Hi everyone, I have to say that the Lord is good, just when you think things are not going so good and then bam the blessings just pour on you...here is what is happening in my etsy store:

Only the yellow blanket is still in the shop! Its one of my original shop listings

I got a sale on November 10th, 16th, 22nd, 28th, and the 29th I sold a custom blanket I made for a friend here on etsy, as if that was not enough I also will be selling a blanket to a friend today.

Rett and Whisper enjoying life

The other blessings we are having is Whisper is doing great, she is eating, gaining weight, running playing, and its so good to see all this and Rett is doing good too, so we are happy about all of this after the rough start we got with these two!

Im done tagging all my items for the show Sunday, today I got gift bags so when customers buy blankets they will have a bag to put them in, I did not want to use a used grocery bag, I just could not see having the person walk away with a nice hand knit blanket in a used plastic Safeway (they call them Vons here now) bag.

Thanks for all the prayers, for everything we have been going through, I will update you soon on the gluten free diet and how that is working for Jack after 4 weeks!

Motormouth Monday...Im modern!

Ok we finally did it we got an iphone, and let me see here is what I have been able to do:

Talk to my daughter who lives in South Dakota face to face, which is a video conferencing way of talking, I can see her and she can see me, and if that was not good enough, there is the feature where by you hit a button and reverse the view so who ever you are talking to can see what you see, so you can show stuff in your house, I showed Jewelee, Rett and Whisper whom she has never met, and I showed her some hair clips that I had been saving for a long time and will give them to her dog.

Apps for iphones

We went to get a case for the phone at Target on Saturday night and they did not have what we wanted so Jack looked up the hours of Frys electronics and we went there...but the story gets better...after we got the case at Frys (it was not really the case I had wanted all along) Jack used an app called Red Laser and he scanned the phone case, so he finds out we can get it cheaper at Radio Shack, we get the directions and the phone # to the store, all at the touch of a button, once we were at Radio Shack I find the case I wanted along and it was $17.00 less then we paid for the one I did not want..now all that was from getting the iphone, pretty neat huh?

Im getting ready for the Holiday Home tour craft show, on December 4th, I have to finish tagging the rest of my items, finish making this blanket:

Well I sure hope that all of you have a great week, oh one more thing we decided to go minimal on the Christmas decorations this year due to just getting the cats and not really knowing how they will react, so for sure no tree!

A Night of Christmas Hope

Hi everyone,
Ok so I said this year that I was NOT going to sing in the Night of Christmas Hope musical production that our church is putting on at an amphitheater, to me its too flashy and I am more of a live nativity type of girl...but my former music director asked me yet again if I can sing with them for the show, and he really was sincere about wanting my voice, so I said "YES" Jack is going to be singing also!
The show is December 17th at 7 pm, and its outside in a amphitheater
so that should be fun.

I think the Lord calls you to do certain things at certain times, I was on the worship for years and then stepped down do to our commitment for Celebrate Life on Saturdays, I can not do all that is required for practices for singing on the worship team and also my Celebrate Life...oh and there are some changes going on with regards to that also, but more on that when I get all the details.

So when the Lord calls you, I think its best to have an open heart to be able to hear what he is saying, and not close our selves off and say " I cannot do that"

After one practice its going to be a great Christmas program, I could feel the Holys spirit moving and its so nice to be with like minded fellow Christians singing :)

Motormouth Monday...Getting ready

Hi everyone,
Well week by week I have been getting ready for the craft show that I am in on December 4th.
So this coming up week I will be tagging all the knitted items, last week I made the tags and my Mom helped me hole punch and put a really pretty crochet thread in them.

I finished this blanket:

on Friday of last week, its one of my more popular colors, I think I have sold 4 of them so far and on Saturday night on our way home from Celebrate Life, I had a 60% off coupon and a 40% off coupon and I got more red to make another one so I have it for the holidays (in case this sells fast) well a girl can hope :)

Oh here is the blanket I sold last week, I am just waiting for the customers check to get here and I ca then I can mail the blanket to her.

We took the 2 cats to the vet for a recheck on both of them, and it seems that Whisper is doing well from the hepatitis but she has more evidence of ringworm and so they once again had to shave the back of her neck area and then near the base of her R ear, it means more topical medicine for her poor thing has been through so much.

Rett is doing pretty good he just has a spot on his ear that has the ring worm, he will have the topical medication also, but because he is more healthy, he is healing faster from that, oh and get this the dr wants to do these lime/sulfur dips on both of them in a week...peeeeee yewwwwwww, he said it smells like rotten eggs.

At church yesterday I agreed to sing in the choir for the big event our church is having on December 17th its called "A Night of Hope" and its at an amphitheatre near the church, so I will be going to practices for that.

its raining real hard as I type this post....I love it :)

Worship Wednesday... a lot to be grateful for

Whisper is going to be ok!

Hi everyone, I am wanting to let you all know that our Whisper is making a miraculous come back from her hepatitis, she is following us around and meowing again, climbing to the top of her cat tree, and today was the first day that she did not sleep most of the day, I so appreciate the kind words from all of you and of course the prayers, they were felt, and heard by our most loving God.

We are so thankful to the Lord for healing her, after all we went through with Diesel its so nice to have a happy ending. I had a friend come over yesterday (Rebecca) and Whisper ran and jumped in her lap my Rebecca was so happy to have that greeting, since Diesel used to growl and hiss at her...lol...in fact Rebecca she is the one who took care of Diesel when Jack and I went to Catalina Island last April.

Oh I have some interesting things in the gluten free (gf) world we are in, Jack has been on this diet for just about 3 weeks, he seems to be better, so we are staying on it, I have found a way to make things for him that are gf and its not that hard once you get the hang of it, its the prepared foods that make it tough to find, but then they are not the best choices either. We got this flour from Jacks research on gf flour, after paying over $5.00 for a tiny loaf of bread and over $7.00 for 4 muffins, we knew it was time for me to get baking. So here is the flour we found:

I used the flour in my usual muffin recipe, and I made some english muffins for Jack, they all turned out good, the flour is more costly at $19.99 for 5 lbs, but when compared to buying the gf things, its a bargain.

Motormouth Monday...Calm after the storm

Hi everyone, happy Monday, well things are going pretty well here, considering what we went through the past month or so with pets, I would have to say that things are calming down pretty well.

So here is the latest, Whisper is eating, taking her meds and gaining her strength back day by day, she is not just hunkered down in our room, she is spending time with us in the other parts of the house, I have gone down to feeding her the wet food, 2 times a day (Rett is eating right along with her) they eat different wet food, as he likes this great natural food from a pet store called Kahoots, Whisper does not like that so she eats fancy feast...I know I know that is not supposed to be the best diet, but whatever she will eat at this point, I am not rocking the boat, I already did that and look where it got us...lol...

Might have one soon!!!!

So onto a completely different topic, the iPhone, yes I am still in the dark ages with my flip phone, I never really saw the need to have the internet on my phone since I have my net book computer pretty much with me throughout the house.

So the iPhone would enable me to use this card reader and scan credit cards at the craft show Im in next month...but if I get this new i phone then my phone bill will increase by $30.00 a month.

Our sick girl is a fighter!

Thanks and I do have an update on my cat Whisper, she had a ultrasound today and she has hepatitis and a bacterial infection in her gall bladder, all of which is treatable, with antibiotics and anti nausea meds, so we Thank the Lord that our girl is not going to be ok it looks like, as long as she eats! Thanks for the prayers, I was really thinking she was not going to make it :)

PS I came home from the vets tonight to a sale...the Lord is good!

Im praying for Whisper and Rett

Hi everyone, I am not sure why we are going through all this with our cat Whisper, so here is what we are facing, Whisper has not been eating and as a result of this she went to the vet Tuesday, they did blood work and urine tests, she was sent home with some prescription diet food, and when we came home she ate some, so that was good, we did get a prescription for a appetite stimulant and I think the reason she ate when we came home was that they gave her first dose at the office

We got a call last night from the vet and he said that Whispers liver enzymes were increased, so that can mean fatty liver disease, now this can be just from not eating much, or it can be as a result of a liver disease, this is more common in older obese cats, of which she is neither. Does this mean we may lose the cat we are just getting to know?

So why is all this happening???? We have to lean on the Lord for the answers, we just know that this has hit us really hard in our bank account...ok I know its not about $ but there does come a point where you, cannot just keep going and going. We will be paying for a long time yet on Diesel.
.,There is talk of a ultra sound on Thursday if she has not gained any weight.

Jack is trying to be optimistic, but what we just went through with our Diesel this is all so emotionally hard to take and at times and it gets overwhelming.

This is what my head feels like when I have a migraine

I had a migraine headache all day (Tuesday), and am just now starting to feel better at the time I am writing this post...

Oh and there is one well make that two more things to report, Rett keeps itching and itching, so that may be the ringworm or mites, not sure on that, so of course he will have to go to the vet!

The 2nd thing is that our car the one that got towed ended up having a distributor problem, and so that is being fixed we will get that today after Jack gets out of work.

So here is the scripture I am looking at with all this:

Whisper she is so pretty!

Ok this is going to be a quick post, seems that our little Miss Whisper has stopped eating, and is sitting in a hunched position, she really has been slowing down since about Sunday, so today we will take her in...

Oh and one more thing, one of our Honda s decided yesterday to not start, so that is being towed in to the shop today...they say the Lord never gives you more then you can handle, right?

I will let you know how this all goes, of course I cannot help but worry in light of what we just went through with losing Diesel...

Hi Everyone did you have a good weekend?

Well lets see here, we had a great weekend, the cats and Jack and I have really begun to bond quite well, we are so happy to be getting into a routine with them.
Seems that Rett is more cuddly then he let on at first, in fact there have been times when I have been in the lazy boy chair and had both of them on me!

We had celebrate Life this Saturday and that was good, there was a new guitar player so that was nice for everyone, for those of you who do not know what Celebrate Life is, its a recovery program that Jack and I volunteer to help with setting up the sound for the music and mics and all.

Sunday was a good day at church, we went after to Big Lots and got some gluten free snacks for Jack, that is the one area that we were lacking in so I was happy to find some things he can have..oh and there is the pet bed we got for the cats, I am not sure where to put it yet, as I can see that they are taking up all the places to sit on the couch and recliner, so I thought a bed would be good, I will let u know what happens there.

Been kind of disappointed with the etsy sales or should I say lack there of, I just got done making a custom order blanket for one of the ladies in my Antricity Team here on etsy, its nice with blue and yellow, she will buy it from me the end of the month, so there is a sale I can count on at least... and in fact I am realizing that I need to have a blue and yellow blanket for the craft show I am doing next month, since our football team the San Diego Chargers is blue and yellow, maybe I may get someone that wants a blanket for a Charger fan.

Worship Wednesday....Lord give me patience

My prayer to the Lord

Hi there, I am going to really be calling on the Lord for patience, with a few things...first of all I think that I am thinking that this diet for Jack should be a fast track to him getting better, and that may not be the case, I was just reading that it can take 6-8 weeks for the gluten to leave your tissues and another 6-8 weeks for the damage to heal, so that is not just 5 days on the diet for Jack to feel better...lol

I am also going to need some patience in the area of these cats...seems that I had a different idea of how I was going to take 2 cats to the vet then they did...I thought I could get both of them in the carrier, and off i would go...so I started to herd them both while they were on the floor near the carrier and Rett, slipped back out, he was having none of this, then I get him, and carry him to the carrier, only to have Whisper slip out and run, so I admitted defeat and let Rett back out of the carrier.
When Jack took the cats to the vet by him self on day 2 of our having them, I got one and he got the other and in the carrier they went...ok so you may wonder "why is she putting 2 cats in one carrier" and its a great question, so here is the answer:

So what I am asking the Lord for is some patience to get through all this!

Hi everyone, I said on Saturday I was going to talk about what is going on with this gluten free diet, well let me start by saying this is for Jack that we are doing this, he started having some issues with his intestines last year and he got blood work, a colonoscopy, and it all turned out to be IBS which stands for irritable Bowel Syndrome.

the past 4 months or so, he has been having pains every morning and they a decrease in appetite, weight loss and so I thought maybe it was time to try a gluten free diet to rule out ciliac disease.

Ciliac disease is: celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder in which consumption of gluten (proteins in wheat, barley, and rye, and sometimes in oats) causes the body’s immune system to attack and damage the small intestine.
When people with celiac disease eat food that contains gluten, the lining of the small intestine becomes inflamed. Ordinarily, this lining, called the mucosa, is covered with hairlike projections called villi -- but the inflammation that develops in response to gluten causes the villi to shrink and flatten (or to "atrophy," in medical terms).

I did research last week and found out what he can and cannot have, I have made dinners according to his needs, so far Jack has been on this diet for 3 full days now, it can take months for things to get better, we went to a more health type store tonight and found some things that were 25% off so that was nice, there are also some bread mixes that I am going to try so before I go to all the expense of buying all those different flours, rice potato etc and that xanthan gum, we will see how this goes, if there is no change then we can go back to gluten.

Ok now for shop Talk I have only had 2 sales this month... but I am working on, a custom order for a lady here on etsy, its a buffalo Sabres colors blanket so its dark blue and dark Yellow, its coming out nice.

Also Im going to be in a craft show on December 4th so I am going to be adding more blankets to that, this is my first show so it will be interesting to see how it all works out.

Little Whisper

Well if you would have asked me two days ago "how is it going?" I would have given a different answer then today...so today's answer is that its going good, we are all getting to know each other.
Both cats Whisper and Rett are settling into routines with us, they get their wet food in the morning, and have their dry available the rest of the time.
I run around with a long cord behind me so they can chase me in the morning, it seems that they really like to play chase games.

Sweet Rett

Rett loves windows, especially if they are open, he loves the air, Whisper is becoming more of a lap cat these past few days and I can even knit while she is on my lap. Rett is way easier to give his nightly ear drops to, Whisper is a fiesty girl and she struggles something fierce.
Oh and there is the jumping that they can do, onto things Diesel never even thought of...the Refrigerator, come on now Whisper you do not even like chips so why are you going up there!!!!

2nd time its been knocked down

I came home to all my hair color stuff (ok cats out of the bag I color my hair, but was born with red hair) well it was all over the floor in the closet in an attempt to jump really high on one of the shelves...They also are sleeping through the night and Whisper sleeps by my head or somewhere on my side, Rett will sleep in the living room and they in the middle of the night he will come and join us.

Jack is not as familiar with all of their meows and what they mean, since I have been home all week with them while he was at work..but he will soon learn...

The Colorado Hobby Lobby I visited in September, soon will see the one near us :)

HOBBY LOBBY....yes they opened a store yesterday that is about 30 miles away, hey that is better then a few thousand miles like it always has been!
I was thinking of going there but I already have a boatload of yarn that I need to knit up so I will hold off till I really need (want) some yarn!!!

See you all Monday when I talk about what we are doing with the change in our diet... cutting out gluten, hint hint, and the reasons why!

Worship Wednesday...the Hello's and Goodbyes

Look at them sleep!

Hi everyone, well we have had our 2 new cats for 4 days and things are settling in for all of us.

The name Ratt for the boy did not set right with either Jack or I, so as I was sitting here on Tuesday knitting, the name Rhett came to me as in Rhett Butler, only I want to drop the H and have it Rett, so that is just a letter change from "a" to "e"

Isn't she tiny

We will be keeping the name Whisper, I was toying with the name Scarlett to go with Rett, but since she knows her name then we will just keep it.

Well no matter the name, I am so thankful to the Lord for heading us in the correct direction to find these two, I love having them here with me, on the days I am home all day, I feel so happy and less lonely, I guess I am really a pet person all the way :)

We are putting ear drops in both of them which proves to be a challenge...as they both had ear mites, fleas and Whisper may have ring worm.

Thank you all for the kind words with all the stuff I was going through with Diesel, oh and do I still miss my big boy, I think I always will, all cats are different, but we were so glad that we had him for as long as we did...here is the last picture I took of Diesel, 9 days before he died, notice the blog post of him on the computer screen!


Diesel by the netbook...I miss you :) I got the call yesterday from the vets office to tell me that Diesels cremains were in, and I went in to get them... Urn, paw print, and a certificate, his urn can join our Golden retrievers that were cremated and on the shelf, in the living room. See you Friday :)

Motormouth Monday...Meet our newest family members

Well I would like to introduce you all to Whisper and Brat...now we changed it to Ratt

Meet Whisper

Meet Ratt , we changed it to something that sounded like "Brat"

We got them from a lady who did cat rescues and was no longer able to take care of so many cats due to having dementia. So her family is helping to get homes for most of them.

We went there on Saturday, and Jack and I sat on the floor, and Whisper pretty much picked us right away, and then Ratt, formerly known as Brat was jumping around and coming to us, but with 11 other cats in the house it was hard to really know what they were going to be like in a quiet home like ours.They were all over the place on the kitchen table/counter, I was like "they will learn not to do that at our house"

I felt that Ratt was the other one we needed to get, so off we went with out new babies, we had to stop on the way home to get the litter box, oh I choose the corner one with a lid.

So how are things going so far, well at first they did not want to use the litter box, due to it having my Sweatscoop in it, so I got some tidy cat not clumping and put that on the top, we will gradually change the ratio from mostly tidy cat and then it will go to mostly Sweatscoop, I guess you cannot expect cats to use a new litter right off the bat, especially in a new home.

I got a really bad migraine Sunday due to lack of sleep, so needless to say I was pretty out of it, but we did discover that our babies had fleas and that is why they were itching so bad, so off to the vet Jack went to get them checked out and to make sure what their weight was because we wanted to put flea control on them but we only have the 9 lbs and over tubes, and Ratt may be close to 9 lbs but Whisper is our tiny girl.

So when Jack got back, he found out that they both had ear mites, fleas and Whisper may have ringworm, she is being tested for that, Ratt weighs 9.5 lbs and Whisper is 7.87 lbs.
Well we wanted to make sure that we start out right taking care of them since this is something that we wanted to take on and I believe in the motto if you cannot take care of the pet the right way its best not to have it.

We also got Revolution to put on them for flea,heart worm, roundworm, hookworm and ear mite protection.

Needless to say we are pretty tired after a whirlwind weekend.

I know the pics I have are not the best but soon I will have more as our new felines adjust to their new home.

Which cats(s) will Jack and I be getting?

Hi Everyone,
Well I wanted to update you all, Jack and I will be getting either 1 or 2 cats this weekend, I have been on the hunt most of the week for new "little people" as my sister calls them.

I got to see ragdoll cats for the first time, wow they are mellow, these ones were only going to be $30.00 a piece they are usually hundreds of dollars for these cats, so here was the only problem with them and it was that they were way to hairy for my knitting I do, the only blanket that would work with them around is this one:

Alpaca blend yarn

The alpaca blend yarn is somewhat hairy on its own so cat hair may not even show, but to be honest I would not be comfortable selling blankets that had hair on them, but the good news is that I broke my almost 3 week dry spell and did sell an alpaca blend blanket earlier this week.

Ok so back to the cats, we will be going back to the Rancho Coastal Humane Society, and seeing Neely, she is the black and white cat that latterly sat in Jacks lap (she chose him) and there are a few others that we liked, but this will be after we go see 2 cats that need a home that are rescue cats, their owner has dementia and can no longer care for them, gee that makes 4 cats doesn't it...lol...Oh what about if you count the other Humane society we need to go look at!!!!!!

Gee this will be interesting, to say the least, but we will need a new litter box, litter I think I am going to change to "yesterdays news", and some food for them, I re arraigned some of the cat trees yesterday to accommodate them, I am getting excited again to think about having pets!

I have used this for years, should we switch???

Hey what kind of litter do you all use that have cats?, I have heard to many horrible things about clumping clay litter...I used Sweatscoop for Diesel, but wow with 2 cats I am not sure we can afford that stuff, its like $30 something a bag, but it was good litter, maybe I should just get the Sweat scoop since it worked so well.

Then there is the whole new litter box issue, do you really need 2 for 2 cats????

Oh and I want to start feeding dry only since Diesel was on canned and dry...gee all these changes!

Any ideas from you on wet vs Dry or feeding both to make sure you cats get enough moisture????

Well I will let you know who we choose or who chooses us!

Worship Wednesday....The Grieving process

Hi Everyone,
I have been doing much better, since our cat Diesel passed away on Friday, I know that the Lord has been working with me, and bring me such comfort.

Monday was the first day I came in the house alone since Diesels death, and although it was empty feeling in the house, I still had a sense of peace.
I know that feeling the grieving process and its stages, can go from one to another or you can jump back to an earlier stage, but the process is just the same as with the loss of a person, lets face it a loss is a loss.
I found this on the web explaining the stages here they are:

1. SHOCK AND DENIAL-
The reality of death has not yet been accepted by the bereaved. He or she feels stunned and bewildered-as if everything is "unreal."
2.ANGER-
The grief stricken person often lashes out at family, friends, themselves, God, the Veterinarian or the world in general. Bereaved people will also experience feelings of guilt or fear during this stage.
3. BARGAINING-
In this stage, the bereaved asks for a deal or reward from either God, the Veterinarian or the Clergy. Comments like "I'll go to Church every day, if only my pet will come back to me" are common.
4. DEPRESSION-
Depression occurs as a reaction to the changed way of life created by the loss. The bereaved person feels intensely sad, hopeless, drained and helpless. The pet is missed and thought about constantly.
5. ACCEPTANCE-
Acceptance comes when the changes brought upon the person by the loss are stabilized into a new lifestyle.
The depth and intensity of the mourning process depends on many factors. The age of the owner, circumstances surrounding the death, relationship of the animal to the owner and to other family members, are all significant. Recently experiencing the death of a significant person in the owner's life can also affect how the pet's death is handled. Usually, children recover more quickly, while the elderly take the longest. Sometimes, the death of a pet will finally enable the bereaved to mourn the loss of a person, whose death had not yet been accepted.

I am at the 4th-5th stage, and I think about Diesel but just not constantly. I really never felt the 3rd stage, with the bargaining, its not like me to feel that way in my day to day life so that is not part of my healing, and in fact you do not have to experience all the stages, to me the most important is the last one where you finally accept the death, understand and move on.

Motormouth Monday...healing

Just a cute pic of the early days with Diesel

Hi everyone,
Well Jack and I are beginning the healing process, and have started to feel better, I so appreciate all the prayers for us during this really hard time, I think the thing is that it happened so fast, I mean it was 10 days from Diesel going to the vet for the first visit, to his euthanasia, so to me that is fast, hardly time to absorb it all for sure.

We had a good weekend, we did to go the humane society on Saturday, just for a pet fix, we saw a lot of cats petted them through their cages and heard meows, and purrs, I think for me anyway I wanted to see life again.

So on Saturday night instead of sitting around we went and did our volunteer work at the church for Celebrate Life, the recovery program that we run the sound for, and that was good to be able to have something to do.
Church was good also, we had a time of crying (again) and felt the Lords hand on us, we came home and ate a salad and Oh yeah I have not talked about the patio with all the Diesel stuff I have forgotten to mention it, well what I was suspecting happened, about a 1/4 of the work did not set, we have found out that was due to improper mixing and or letting the mixture sit too long, so what we decided to do was instead of scooping the un cured parts out, we touched it and it did not stick to our fingers, so we put sand on top of it and packed it down (hey my mom used to say "go pack sand") so we did literately, this way we can walk on it and it will not stick to our shoes, and in the mean time, maybe it will slowly dry with time.If it does not dry/cure we will re do it one day, but we decided to take our time and see what happens

Oh I made my first blanket with the yarn I got from Hobby Lobby while in Colorado last month..here is a pic of it:

Goodbye my friend

Hi everyone, well on Friday evening we had to take our Diesel in and release him from his pain, I have tears running down my cheeks as I type this.
I have to say it went better then I thought, due to the fact that Diesel NEVER let the vet touch him and had to be anesthetized to be examined.
Diesel was really ready because he had stopped eating over 24 hours ago, he was only laying where he was pretty much hidden from us and did not want to be bothered with, this was not like him at all he was always in the same room as us and he was known to climb on us at times.

At the vets we were able to pet him with the door of the carrier part way open, while we waited for a room to go in (probably faster then usual due to my sobbing while we were petting Diesel) once in the room, they had a soft blanket on the exam table, so we put his carrier up on the table and we, opened the door once again and petted and talked to him, when the vet came in he was so soft spoken that Diesel was more calm then usual, he did hiss and growl a little, but I like to think it was a calm experience for him, they took the top of the carrier off and the vet put a folded towel down, over the front part of Diesel, and he gave him a sedative, the vet left the room while we pet and talked to Diesel as he slowly went to sleep, in 5 mins the vet came back in and I was thinking he was going to have to give Diesel a IV catheter, but he said he could get a vein and so I turned my head and he put the needle in and in seconds he was gone, I covered him with a knitted blanket I had made for him, and he will be cremated with it.

I am not trying to depress any one by talking about all this, its really therapy for me to go over this.

I am looking all around, and I can see Diesel everywhere, on his cat tree, eating food, laying on the carpet, the couch, looking out the window, I can hear him scratching his litter in his box, its as if I want to memorize everything he did and etch it so firmly in my mind, he was known to lay places and get stepped on or nudged with your foot, he also made a brrrrup sound when you would walk up to him if he was sleeping, it was his way of greeting you. Oh and he could purrrrrrr like anything, I think I will miss that about him the most.

I cannot thank you all so much for the prayers, the Lord was there during this all, I so felt his presence.

Not so great news

Diesel loves the window (cant jump here anymore though)

Hi everyone,
We will meet with the Vet sometime today to get the full report on Diesels sonogram he had yesterday, but the Dr did call me yesterday and said that the technician doing the test said that Diesel did have some swelling in the lymph nodes of his intestines, and it looks like his cancer is metastasizing, that was a word we did not want to hear.

So even though we get the whole test results back some time today, it does not look good for my Diesel, as to how long we can wait till we put him down, we have to see on that, he is eating, and going potty so that is good, gosh this is hard to believe its happening.

I pretty much have been crying off and on since I found out, in fact when I went to get Diesel, tears were just flowing, so the nice lady named Heather that works in the front office gave me tissues and hugged me, I so needed that hug.

I'll let you know more after I visit the vet today, but in the meantime I am listening for every meow and purr so I can store them in my memory banks, this is just tearing me apart, Oh Lord please give me strength to get through this whole thing, I love this cat so darn much and do not want to be with out him at such a young age of 8 years old

We will have Diesel cremated (cannot believe I just said that) and he will go in an urn on the shelf along with my Goldie (she was a 10 yo golden retriever who died in April of 2000)
Then there is my Brandon (he was a golden retriever who died in Jan of 2006)

Patio work needing to be redone in spots

Well if that were not enough there is the patio I have to report to you remember I said that it was not dry in spots, well, its still not, and after almost 4 days this means it will not set, I called the company that makes the Sikaflex and they said that we did not mix it correctly (were supposed to use a drill with a special paddle and mix for 3-5 mins at 400-600 rpms), and we mixed it by hand, I guess its like a cake mix that really gets different when you whip it with a beater, vs hand stirring...only analogy I can come up with and so that means we have to either redo that part or take it all out and just put wood in.
Jack is leaning on just redoing that section since we like the rest of the patio...I will report on that too.

Ok with out further adieu, here is the patio work in a pictorial view, as of this writing there are still areas that are not dry, but that is the area that is the coolest on the patio and the most shaded, this stuff likes the heat, so in that case Today and tomorrow are going to be scorchers here in San Diego, so that will be great for the adhesive.

The first of the work was done by Jack when I was on Colorado so I really do not have pics of that, the only thing I have is this pic that shows what the wood looked like in the grooves, it was really falling apart and uneven to walk on, I twisted my ankle 2 times since we moved in less then 2 years ago.

I did most all of the taping, I had to brush clean the concrete

These paper wasps, have been near the door of the garage that we walk by daily to get to the cars!

Ouch... it happened, Jack got stung, he was sawing and the wasp got between his pants and the door...

Now that is the end of Saturdays work, and now I will begin to show you the next day (the messy work day)

Alright, so the plan of action was to pour over the backer rods and get them to stay in place, Jacks fear (and it was valid) was that the rods would float, so here is our trial attempt so see what it would work out like.

So Jack was pouring over the rods and it all seemed ok, we thought then we would come back around and do a final pour over the top

Here you can see that the rods are floating, Jack tries to push them down with that block of wood but they pop up again

This called for the change in plans, we poured a small amount of adhesive, and then stuck the backer rods on that, we did all the trenches this way, and waited a bit of time for the final pour.

Yes that is my pin cushion, I was trying to get all the backer rods to stay down, so I used sewing pins

Ok now we are talking, we had my Bro in law Danny and sis in law Patty on the job with us

Well it cleaned up fine and you cannot see it at all!

The funny thing is that its still drying, as of this very moment,so all in all it came out pretty good, I have gotten my finger in parts of it while checking for firmness..lol...but as I said the heat in the next few days will cure it well...or so we hope

Motormouth Monday... Great weekend

Hi everyone,
Well I will have more on the patio work we did this weekend, I did not have time to do the pics for that whole thing, so I will just talk about some of the stuff that happened this weekend.

Jack and I were doing some of the preliminary stuff on the patio, and then Jacks sister (Patty) and Brother in law (Danny) came by to show us their new Buick La Saber (so pretty and a year 2000 looks like new), so then we all got to talking about our patio work, so they came back today and helped us get going on the patio, like I said more on that soon

Now as I type this I have Patty and Danny cooking a great dinner in my kitchen, what a heavenly dream to have 2 people do the cooking for you. They are making steak, garlic mashed potatoes, Cesar salad, cheesy bread, zucchini, and yellow squash....yummy, and the men did the shopping for it all, plus picked up a pie for dinner...woo hoo!

I will get pics of the work we did on here soon.

Now for the Diesel update, he has had a quiet weekend even with company over most of the day yesterday and today, he actually jumped up on the washer, which I have not seen him jump that high in a week. I will let you all know about what happens with the sonogram this week, and give you a report.

Silly Diesel in the laundry basket!

Hi everyone, well I have some news about Diesel, we met with the vet today and it seems that the biopsy was somewhat inconclusive so the only way to know how to proceed with him is to get an ultrasound.

Next week we will be calling the vets office to make the appointment for the ultrasound, we will be getting the results the day of the test.

Now why are we doing this? Because we need to know if there is a possibility of removing the mass or if its not possible, then we will know that we did everything possible to save Diesels life, and if he has to be euthanized then we can do that with a clear conscious, knowing we did our best.

Now I did not say that this is going to be easy, its going to be hard, that is the one thing that all pet owners have to face at one time or another, is the saying goodbye to your beloved pet.
There is a quote by Alfred Lord Tennyson: “'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” To me that says it all the best.

So while I am not sure that Diesel is ready for the rainbow bridge just yet, the Lord has it all in control, so we lean on him.

Worship Wednesday...update on our Diesel

Well its been a roller coaster ride, first of all we thought we were just bringing Diesel in for an enema, and it turns out he has a mass/growth!!!!

So he ended up with a biopsy, no enema, x-rays, blood work, and we are having a sample of the mass sent to cytology to help us determine what the course of action is, to be honest at this point I am not sure what we are up against so I cannot even say what we will be doing with him...

We will lean on the Lord and just trust in Him for all our peace and strength, this is hard let me tell you, just the thoughts that my 8 yo cat may possibly have some sort of cancer is NOT something that I was thinking of, I mean 5 years ago I had to put down my golden retriever "Brandon" and that was hard, so I guess I was just not ready to go down that road again, well that is if we have to go that route...I am getting way ahead of myself.

Diesel loves to lean on stuff, so my yarn is a great cushy place

So how is Diesel doing since we got him home, well he has been staggering around for over an hour, with being loopy from the anesthesia. As I type this blog he is getting better at walking.

******Update we got through the night ok, and got a call from the Dr, seems that there is a 2nd hidden mass which may account for this external mass, so we will know more tomorrow, but now its more real then ever that we may have to euthanize our cat...Lord give me strength for this as I am still in shock about it all*******

Thanks all of you for the kind words and for prayers, I tell you pets really do get into the core of your being, and really steal your hearts with the love they give.

I will keep everyone informed and in the mean time the prayers are appreciated :)

Tuesday Talking...Diesel is sick :(

Hi everyone,
I do not usually do a post for Tuesday but I just had to because my cat Diesel has to go to the vet and go under general anesthesia, the reason...he is constipated!

Its not a new condition for him in fact it has a name megacolon, its common in middle aged, larger, male cats, a build up of fecal matter and low motility (sorry to be graphic) leads to the condition, and the only way to remove it, is by undergoing anesthesia, and having the vet do it (I know its gross) but most of you that read this are parents to kids and pets so you have dealt with the usual bodily functions things, so I thought I could express my self here.

We will be dropping Diesel off in the early morning and then picking him up sometime after he is stabilized from all this.

So a prayer for my cat (he is like a child to me) I would so appreciate it...I believe that the Lord matches us up with pets for a reason, and for the seasons they are with you, its a blessing.

Motormouth Monday...Lots of things

Hi everyone,
Seems that I am just now getting back into the swing of things after my trip, Ive been so tired, and therefore have not felt up to being on the computer that much, well I have been trying to get back to knitting more also.

I have given a new advertising system that is on etsy a try, its called "Search ads"and so far I have one sale as a result of my blankets getting looked at more, here is the link: Search Ads you can go read more on this, I like the fact that I can see how many impressions (you will understand when you read what this means) I have and how many people view my items, to me its good so far.

So here is my sale, its a yellow,green and white striped blanket that had a matching blanket, but, the buyer chose just one and that is ok too!

We had some home projects to work on this weekend, we replaced the headrail for our vertical blinds in the living room, when we bought the condo, the verticals did not open or close so we always had them open because Diesel likes to look out the window, but now we have the option to shut them in the evening so that is good, we also will be doing more work on our patio, I need to take some pics and show what we are doing there, Jack worked on it while I was in Colorado, and we need to fill in the gaps,with sand, backer rods, and a self leveling adhesive, so I will try and see what I have for pics of the wood that was between the cement pavers and how bad it was, we could have put more wood back in but Jack found out that they just rot over time, so I will dedicate a blog to the whole repair work as its happening. In the mean time here is a photo I found of what I am talking about, see the wood how bad it is...

Worship Wednesday....God is good...my Colorado trip story

Gorgeous Colorado Sunset

Hi everyone,
Well here are some of the details of my trip to Colorado,
The trip was both happy and sad, but we were very blessed, and I thank God that we were able to go.

Ok we ( my Mom Claire and my sister Debbie) flew out early Friday the 23rd, and this is one of the great things, I never felt the pain in my head on landing in the Denver airport, I had done the Neti pot (nasal cleansing system) so I had clear passages, as I read that if you are clogged it leads to the pressure in the nasal passages as the cabin pressure changes.

We get to the airport and met my daughter Jewelee she had taken a flight in from Rapid City South Dakota, we got in about 15 mins before her, we all four met up and we get our rental car and drove to fort Collins where we had hotel reservation at the Merriott Hotel.

That first day we were invited to the rehearsal dinner, that was being put on by my niece and her husband because my brother and sister- in- law did end up not going to the wedding after all, I had a blog post on that whole situation a while ago, so that is the part of the story that is not so good.

Onto Saturday, we get up early call my Nephew (the one getting married) and we make plans to meet him at his house in Greeley, but before we go there I was bound and determined to go to:

My first visit to Hobby lobby :)))))))))

Ok so we only had like 30 mins in Hobby Lobby that we could spare since we had a 45 min drive to my nephews house, but I did get some yarn that will work for a boy and one for a girl, the blankets will be made soon, and I will show them then.

We saw my nephews house and I went in a corn field, here is the pic of that:

Well its as close to a corn field as I had time for!!!!

We ate breakfast with my nephew and dropped him off at his future father in laws house so he could get ready for the wedding pics they were taking before the wedding.

We had to do a mad dash back to the hotel and all 4 of us had to get dressed makeup on and get back to Greeley for pics at 3 PM, well we got there a little after 3:30 so that was not bad since we only had less then 1 hour to get ready

My $20.00 outfit I got at the goodwill...not bad

So we were in some of the pics, and since there was no mother to the groom at the wedding, they gave my mom a corsage to wear since she was the grandma,she was also walked down the isle by Chad, we sat in the first row, and I got some great pics, actually I was the designated picture taker the whole trip.

The ceremony was so sweet, we went to a nice place for the reception, and they had a great MC that really did a lot of special things, they played the newlywed game, with each holding their own shoe and the other spouses shoe and they raised it up when they thought they had the correct answer, the food was so good also.

The next day we hung around the hotel room till 2 pm as we had requested a late check out, we ate at the cracker barrel (I got my favorite candy in the whole world "Maple Grove Farms" maple candy, you cannot get that here on the west coast.

We got Jewelee to the air port on time for her flight out at 7:45 pm, and we left at 8 pm.

So there is it is, my 1st ever visit to Colorado, and how the Lord was with me (well us) throughout the visit.
I did however get 3 migraine headaches and that was due to a lack of sleep, and non stop action, but I was able to get them to go away after a few hours, and used my Imitrex nasal spray medicine.

I took like 300 pics and I will share more of them, at a later date.
